How a Platform Goods Lift Installation Can Benefit Your Warehouse Operations

Are you working in a warehouse environment, and looking for a way to streamline and enhance your operations? If you don’t already have a platform lift installed in your warehouse, then you are greatly missing out. Platform goods lifts are very common to see in warehouses and industrial environments and provide a wide range of benefits – from increasing safety, to reducing worker tiredness and manual handling, to helping streamline your operations.

Cherry Picker are here to tell you about how a platform goods lift installation can benefit your warehouse operations, and make your operation and your life, easier. We are Ireland’s leading supplier of access platform machinery, covering the sales, hire and servicing of our machines. We have been providing our standard and bespoke cherry pickers and handling solutions to the construction, food and pharmaceutical sectors since 1994 and have a wide range of solutions to suit all businesses’ needs.

Streamline Operations

One of the main benefits of installing a platform goods lift in your warehouse is that it will help you to streamline your business operations. With the use of a platform goods lift, you will be able to increase the efficiency and help to boost the productivity of your staff. You will be saving time that would be spent moving and carrying goods while also increasing employee safety.

Increase Safety

Using a platform goods lift in your warehouse will help to increase the safety of you and your staff. Warehouses can be a very dangerous place to work, with workplace accidents being a very common occurrence. Many workplace accidents come from falls, which the use of a platform goods lift can help to reduce. Your workers will be able to move goods to a height without having to use ladders or stairs, which can be unsteady and cause accidents. A platform goods lift will ensure to keep your goods and your workers safe, ensuring fewer accidents and a safer working environment overall.

Reduce Staff Fatigue

Installing a platform goods lift in your business can also help to reduce staff fatigue. It will make their roles easier, as they won’t be having to lift, move and carry around heavy items. It is common for staff to get tired in a warehouse environment, and it’s important to help to reduce your staff’s fatigue as much as possible. By using a platform goods lift you can help to conserve their energy for other tasks and jobs that need doing.

Why Use Pallet Stackers in Your Warehouse Environment?

Safety and productivity are the two most important objectives in any warehouse environment. If you’re an owner of a warehouse looking to increase overall health and safety, and simultaneously become more efficient, then one of the best choices you can make is to invest in stackers. Pallet stackers can upgrade your warehouse safety and help your staff become more productive in the short and long term.

Below, the team at Cherry Picker looks at why you must utilise pallet stackers in your warehouse – whether you’re a manufacturer, importer, wholesaler or retailer. Read on to learn more, and if you’d like to find out more about our stackers and lifting equipment – please contact the Cherry Picker team via the details at the bottom.

The Various Types of Stackers Available

Stackers come in many different forms, so there is plenty of choice available when you’re looking for a solution for your specific application. At Cherry Picker, we can provide both light duty and heavy-duty solutions, depending on your individual stacking needs and requirements. We offer bespoke stackers which are tailored to your warehouse setting, and will substantially increase the level of safety in your space. Furthermore, we can also provide wide straddle units for environments where materials are being lifted from closed-ended pallets. To discuss our pallet stackers – please get in touch with us today.

Reasons to Use Pallet Stackers

The biggest reason to use stackers is safety. When you’re operating in a warehouse environment and transporting heavy loads of packaging to and from storage, it’s imperative that this is performed with the utmost level of safety and care. There are risks associated with warehouse transportation, and it’s vital that these are minimised to protect all staff and customers.

Choosing the right pallet stacker will allow you to meet all health and safety regulations and achieve necessary safety certifications. It will reduce risks for employees and contribute to a more safe, secure and efficient workplace. Another huge benefit of stackers is that they’ll give you productivity and efficiency gains, speeding up transportation and enabling you to operate quicker. You’ll be able to achieve faster turnaround times, and in turn, your warehouse will run more smoothly and efficiently.

All in all, pallet stackers are a superb option for your warehouse environment. They’ll make lifting, moving and handling all your palletised materials a complete dream. As they don’t take up considerable amounts of physical space, they can be manoeuvred into a diverse array of scenarios – making them a brilliant piece of equipment to have at your disposal. They’re also really cost-effective, they don’t require a large initial investment or any significant maintenance, so they’re a smart solution to go for.

A Complete Guide on Boom Certifications

If you are a MEWP operator or own a construction or building maintenance company, then you may be looking at boom certifications for yourself or your staff to complete so that they are able to operate a boom lift. It is a legal requirement that those operating a boom lift have been appropriately trained and authorised to use a boom lift, following OSHA regulations.

Here at Cherry Picker, we offer a range of training courses including two boom-specific MEWP courses. We understand how important it is to have safe working practices when working at a height, and that keeping yourself and/or your employees safe is vital. We are passionate about helping businesses and individuals to get trained in the most efficient and cost-effective manner and with our new Online Training Platform, it is straightforward. It allows seamless self-paced learning and assessments, and you can monitor your employee’s progress on their course.

If you’d like to learn more about boom certifications and courses we offer at Cherry Picker, below is an insightful guide.

What is a Boom Lift?

A boom lift for those that don’t know, is a type of aerial lift that lets your workers have access to high, hard-to-reach areas. There are two types of boom lifts – articulating boom lifts and telescopic boom lifts, and they allow for a much higher reach than scissor lifts. They also offer a brilliant range of motion and their outreach capabilities mean they can be used to lift up, over and down for extra difficult places to reach. The boom refers to the arm-like piece that connects from the platform to a grounded base.

Who are Boom Training Certifications for?

Training certifications are designed for the operators of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and those also looking to renew their operator licences for the respective categories; for example, scissors lift, telescopic and articulated booms.

Without the correct training in using boom lifts, you could have a serious workplace accident. As an employer, it is your responsibility to ensure that your workers are following OSHA regulations and are fully trained in the machinery and equipment that they will be operating. Your employers are not legally able to operate booms with the correct training.

Boom Certifications at Cherry Picker

At Cherry Picker, we offer a Standard MEWP + Static Boom Training Course, as well as an extended Standard MEWP + Static Boom + Safety Harness Training Course on our new online training platform. Both courses are both blended learning, with a combination of online theory followed by an in-person practical assessment. Both of our boom certifications cover;

  • Legislation and the types and the use of MEWPs
  • Hazards accidents associated with using MEWPs
  • Daily pre-use checks, safety precautions and maintenance requirements
  • Harness in MEWP
  • Positioning, raising and lowering the MEWP safely
  • Covers self-propelled booms (3B), Mobile Vertical (3A) and Static Boom (1B)

We provide full certification tickets once you have completed your training, and they will be valid for three years. You can sign up at any time that suits you, and start studying your theory work immediately. Both of our boom courses take approximately an hour to complete and are fully trainer-led.

You can now complete all of your theory work fully online and you will only need to book your practical assessment at our office, which is located just outside of Ashbourne in Co. Meath. This practical assessment will take only 30 minutes to complete, so you won’t have to spend much time away from work. We even offer practical assessments on Saturday mornings, making it really convenient to complete this essential part of the training.

Understanding the Different Types of Lifting Equipment

Lifting equipment is designed to handle heavyweight and delicate goods with the utmost care and precision. Whether you’re working in an industrial environment or an office-based one, it’s essential that you use lifting equipment if you’re looking to move and handle large and fragile items. Ultimately, the right lifting equipment will improve the safety of employees by removing manual handling and it also has the added benefit of increasing efficiency.

Below, the Cherry Picker team has written an informative post that explores the various types of lifting equipment that can be used. Read on to learn more about, and if you’d like to make an inquiry about our lifting equipment of the highest quality, please contact us via the details below.

Stackers

Stackers are typically used in warehouse environments where lots of heavy items need to be safely lifted to and from storage areas. They come in both light duty and heavy duty solutions, so whatever your individual stacking needs, the exact stacker is available.

All in all, stackers maximise safety and productivity, reducing injuries and damage in commercial and industrial settings. Stackers can also be custom-designed to suit environments where ground space is particularly limited.

Goods Lifts

Goods lifts are designed to make it easier to move and transfer goods from a ground floor to a mezzanine floor, or second floor. These types of lifts come in various sizes ranging from smaller goods lifts to larger mezzanine goods lifts that are capable of lifting much heavier items.

In addition to this, mesh cages can be fitted to goods lifts to prevent materials from falling and causing damage during the lifting process. If you’re moving items up to the mezzanine floor, a goods lift can be modified to provide greater protection and safety.

Scissor Lift Tables

Scissor lift tables are ideal for positioning loads at different locations and heights. They’re a popular type of aerial platform lift that is commonly used in manufacturing and industrial environments. Using a mobile scissor lift table will optimise safety and productivity in your workspace, as your workers will be able to move and lift at various heights – with ease.

Scissor lift tables come in an array of sizes from smaller options to larger options. Furthermore, if extra safety is required, mesh cages or bellows can be installed underneath the platform to lower the risk of personal injuries or damage.

Server Lifting

Server lifts are designed to be used by clients working in data centre environments. In essence, these types of lifts are used to improve on-site safety and productivity when individuals are working with heavy and valuable server modules.

If you need to regularly transfer server modules in and out of your storage racking, then a server lift is a necessity. Roller platforms can also be added to server lifts to ensure smoother user experience, and to decrease the impact on the material being lifted.

Four Popular Applications of Aerial Platforms

Aerial platforms, also commonly referred to as cherry pickers or mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), are used in a broad range of industries to enable individuals and equipment to temporarily access areas that are inaccessible – due to height. Construction

Aerial platforms are commonly used in the construction industry by companies of all sizes and scales. Whether it’s a large-scale commercial construction project, or a smaller-scale residential build, hiring an aerial platform is a smart choice. It will allow you to reach big heights, which is especially important if you are working on a tall building development. If you’re working up high, having an aerial lift will ensure that your workers can operate smoothly and comfortably, with better safety and security too.

Maintenance

The maintenance industry is another sector that uses aerial platforms on a regular basis. Again, this is because of the impressive ease at which an aerial platform allows individuals and equipment to reach large heights. Specific applications in maintenance include ship maintenance, and at large industrial plants where maintenance workers need to access high locations for example, an annual safety inspection or repair job. If your maintenance company needs reliability, then an aerial platform from Cherry Picker is a great choice.

Cleaning

What’s more, aerial platforms are popular in the cleaning industry. Many cleaning companies hire an aerial platform to make their external and internal cleaning easier. Whether it’s cleaning windows on a high-rise building, cleaning a statue, or accessing a roof to clean, an aerial platform can be utilised in a myriad of ways by a cleaning company.

Painting

Finally, a fourth industry where aerial platforms are highly popular is the painting industry. Painting companies usually need to access high parts of buildings, to carefully oversee painting at awkward heights and levels. An aerial lift will provide optimum safety, reliability and efficiency – helping painters to seamlessly paint high walls and ensure a high-quality painting finish.
